Every cut or damage to the skin over any part of the body will lead to development of a scar after its healing period is over.
A keloid is a scar (developed around a wound) that continues to grow and invades the adjoining normal tissue. It is an overgrowth of scar tissue that develops around a wound.
Both a scar and keloid need treatment as they may cause discomfort to the patient and look ugly.
Treatment for Scars & Keloids
At TLC, we manage scars and keloids following a multi modular approach (depending upon the location, size, and depth of the lesion) that involves the following:
• Excision is done following soft tissue handling techniques. In most of the cases, excision alone can cause reoccurrence, so it excision is done in combination with any of the following other postoperative modalities
• Intralesional steroid injection (triamcinolone)
• Intralesional radiation
• Compression therapy
